About

Welcome!

I am an author fascinated by the darker corners of human nature, whether exploring them through gritty historical realism or weaving them into expansive, unmade universes.

From the Gritty Streets...

For years, readers have known me as the creator of the WDC Louise Miller Crime Series. Set against the nostalgic, stark backdrop of West Yorkshire during the 1980s and 1990s, these northern noir procedurals dig deep into small-town secrets, systemic friction, and psychological tension.
Following Louise's journey from Manchester back to her hometown of Ossett has been an incredible ride spanning four published novels, including Dirty Little Secret and my latest release, 'Til It Bleeds. There is still more planned for the series -- stay tuned!

...To the Edge of the Universe

While my passion for crime fiction remains as strong as ever, a storyteller's mind rarely stays in one timeline.
I am currently expanding my boundaries into speculative fiction with my upcoming series, A Ballot Of Stars. Moving from historical grit to world-building entirely new realities allows me to tackle massive, high-concept questions about human love, survival, and moral dignity—just from a completely different vantage point. The debut novel in this universe, The Vote, is currently underway.
Behind the Scenes
When I’m not typing away at 750 words a day trying to make every single sentence count, I’m living and working out of my home in Derbyshire. I share my writing office with my author wife, Lucy, and our two cats (who serve as excellent, if demanding, line editors).

I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) degree in Creative Writing, and can usually be found painting toy soldiers for tabletop wargames or watching Star Wars and Marvel movies. I am an avid reader - follow my TBR list.
